Preferred Lies Revision Preferred Lies also previously known as Winter Rules or pick & Place are in place until further notice. However, ''An England Golf ruling regarding 'Preferred Lines' states that to obtain relief the ball must be marked and then placed on the fairway within 6 inches [not a club length] of the mark no nearer the hole. This applies to all Club Competitions that are deemed Qualifying and are submitted to England Golf for Handicap Purposes. This will also apply to General Play rounds that are also submitted to England Golf. This Ruling applies from now. All other Social Golf that isn't being submitted for handicap purposes a Preferred Lie distance of 1 club length can still be used.''
