Pyecombe Pitcher team in crunch action
exciting finish to end to season
ESN’s Pyecombe Pitcher team face crunch battle at Piltdown GC this Saturday.

Cowdray Park’s 3 – 2 victory last weekend over Singing Hills has meant that the West Sussex club now lead ESN’s division on 21 points and are guaranteed a place in the Semi Finals, along with Pyecombe GC and ‘Jill’ division winners Mannings Heath, who comprehensively secured their place with a 4-1 win over the Dyke also on Sunday.

2nd Place in the ‘Jack’ division is occupied by Piltdown on 19.5 points with ESN a point behind on 18.5. With two bonus points on offer for a victory or one bonus point on offer to the away team in the event of a tie it means that any of the three teams at the top can be left out or progress from the group with the various permutations available.

From an ESN perspective a draw or win guarantees topping the group on away points and a tie against Pyecombe GC on 14th September at a neutral venue. A defeat of any kind will mean exiting the competition.

Tom Foreman and Mark Campbell (Capt) will lead the team out, followed by the pairings of Dean Plant and Max Evans, Kieran Doherty and Jordan Divall and Rob Thompson and Ben Stokes. Josh Hardy and Marcus Opoku will be the anchor pairing.

It could go down to the last putt on the 18th in the Scratch Betterball Medal format – let’s hope that’s not the case – but whatever happens an exciting match is in store and support is welcome at the local venue.

First tee time is 11.00am.
