Lidstone Trophy
Three Clubs on Red
All 16 players saw red, literally. The Lidstone is a unique event for the club: three clubs of a players choice plus a putter and all players playing off the red tees. What could possibly go wrong?

It was great to see some new players entering and using the competition as another qualifying round for future club majors. Nathan King deserves a special mention for doing this and scoring an obscene 49 Stableford points (with a blob on the 18th ) which would have been the winning score in ordinary or extraordinary circumstances by a country mile. It’s been good to see Nathan playing in subsequent medals.

Most players adapted to the different tee positions and seemed relatively happy about their choice of clubs, with hybrids, 7 irons and wedges being fairly popular picks.

The eventual winner, Darren Edwards, joked on the first to his playing partners “put me down for a 42 boys”, and then came in with a 43. Uncanny, and all without hypnotism and with a palpable fear of bunkers. Well done Darren.

The runner up was Chris Chaundy with 41 points, and equal third place were Jack Magee and Jarlath Brine with 40.

Thanks to all those who enjoyed the competition and it was especially nice to see Steve Jones back on the course.
