This year, Captain, Steve Morgan has two excellent ways for every golfer to contribute while out on the course:
1. The Captain's Charity Bunker Bottle
We've all been there—a visit to one of the course's notorious bunkers! Now, your misfortune can be a force for good.
How it Works: We're asking all members to make a small, discretionary donation of £1 every time you hit the greenside bunker on the 18th hole, during a social or competition round.
Where to Donate: Drop your donation to the specially marked "Captain's Charity Bunker Bottle" located in the spike bar. If you do not have cash, the donation can be be taken from your members bar card.
It's a fun way to turn a moment of frustration into a positive contribution to a life-saving cause!
2. The Captain's Charity Birdie Book
This is where those spectacular shots pay off! The Birdie Book is not just a guide—it's your official tracker for the season-long Captain's Challenge.
How it Works: Every time you score a Birdie in a Club Competition or Club Match, you are asked to donate £1 in the bottle and record that birdie in the official Captain's Birdie Book (located next to the Bottle). If you do not have cash, the donation can be be taken from your members bar card.
End-of-Season Draw: For every £1 donation recorded in the book, you will receive an entry into a special end-of-season prize draw! The more birdies you sink, the more chances you have to win a fantastic prize! It’s the perfect way to celebrate your success while supporting a vital charity.
There were 2245 Birdies recorded by all golfers in competitions last season, this amount converted into pounds would make a huge difference to amount of money we raise.
Why Prostate Cancer UK?
Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It affects thousands of dads, brothers, partners, and friends, and chances are, it's touched the life of someone within our club. Every pound raised through the Bunker Bottle and Birdie Book helps fund research into better tests and treatments, supporting the charity’s mission to stop prostate cancer being a killer.
Many Thanks
Steve Morgan - Club Captain
