Sad News
Jackie Bennett
I am very sorry to have to let you know that former Lady Captain and Honorary Member Jacke Bennett has sadly passed away, aged 97.
Jackie joined the club in 1997, and very soon became a prominent member of the Ladies Section and the club as a whole. She took on the role of Secretary and subsequently Lady Captain, and immediately set about increasing the numbers of lady members, with great success. Ever the moderniser, Jackie was the driving force behind the introduction of computer software to manage handicapping at the club (the Men's Section took 4 years to catch up!), as well as using her experience of running her own business to streamline and improve efficiencies within the Ladies Section. Jackies' enthusiasm for the club and the game was boundless, and she was still winning golf tournaments well into her 80's! In recognition of her enormous and selfless contribution to the club, Jackie was made an Honorary Life Member and even when she could no longer play, she still retained a keen interest in all things Ivinghoe GC.
On a personal note, Jackie became a very dear friend to myself, my family and Mark in the Pro Shop. She will be sadly missed.
