We would like to take a moment to explain why play may be restricted or cancelled during periods of sudden thaw.
When frozen ground begins to thaw, it can lead to a condition called root shear. During a quick thaw, the surface layer of the turf softens while thee soil beneath remains frozen. When traffic is applied to these conditions, the surface can shift slightly, causing the grass roots to tear away from the frozen layer below.
Although the damage may not be immediately visible, it can significantly affect turf health and playing quality later in the season.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
