Presidents Day
Tom Gardiner Wins Presidents Putter
A field of 82 participated in this years Presidents Day in an attempt to win the coveted Presidents Putter. As well as the 7 Juniors who entered with the field still being a little short of full the President agreed that Ladies would be allowed to enter for the first time as at the end of the day the Club President be it a He or She is President of the whole club and not just one section of it. As it was very short notice and a separate add on competition produced by Matthew the Ladies were invited on the basis of those who help out on these days and those who regularly play at weekends in the Monthly Medals and Stablefords, apologies to Kim Potter from me, it totally slipped my mind that you regularly play and I forgot to invite you. A massive thank you to all that donated prizes and then bought raffle tickets to try and win back that bottle of Campari that’s been sitting in your drink’s cabinet for 10 years. A total of £400 was raised which will go towards the Presidents charity. The results on the day were very close and all placings decided by countbacks, 3rd, 4th and 5th places all with 39 points went to Nick Bickers, Richard Old and Vince Fuller and the winner on the day was Tom Gardiner with 40 points (21 back 9) from Dave Punter also 40 points (20 on back 9). David Mills presented the Presidents Putter to Tom in front of a packed clubhouse. Afterwards a splendid BBQ spread was laid on by the President and excellently delivered by Simon and the catering crew and normal thanks to Maggie and Marie for doing the raffle, Carol, Jackie & Shelly for drinks at the halfway house, & Howard and Matt for card distribution and result collation.
