All members and their guests are expected to strictly observe the following standards of golf etiquette and safety.
1. Verbal Warnings ("FORE")
Silence following a stray shot is a major breach of golf etiquette.
Immediate Action: If a ball hooks, slices, or tracks towards an area where other people could be present, you must shout "FORE" at maximum volume immediately.
No Exceptions: Do not hesitate out of embarrassment or concern for disrupting play. Safety supersedes traditional course decorum.
Incoming Fire: If you hear the warning call, do not look up to locate the ball. Immediately drop your head, protect your face and neck with your arms, and take cover behind your trolley or buggy.
2. Avoid Playing on Other Holes
Members are strongly advised to play each hole along its intended layout. Deliberately playing onto an adjacent fairway to cut corners or bypass doglegs should be avoided for safety reasons.
Risk of Blind Spots: Firing down a neighbouring fairway creates dangerous blind spots. Players on that hole cannot see you and do not expect a ball to arrive from an irregular angle.
Stay within Boundaries: For the safety of everyone on the course, please keep your shots within the designated boundaries of the hole you are currently playing.
3. Greenkeepers' Absolute Right-of-Way
The greenkeeping staff has absolute right-of-way at all times. Staff operate heavy machinery and utilise ear defenders, meaning they cannot hear your warnings.
Cease Play: Do not play into any area where staff are actively working.
Authorisation Required: You must wait for the staff member to completely clear the area or provide a distinct, visual wave-through before resuming play.
Failure to comply with these basic safety mandates endangers everyone on the property. Please look out for your fellow members, respect the staff, and ensure the course remains safe for everyone.
Please refer to the attached picture, which serves as a stark example of what may happen when these safety measures are not taken seriously.
