72 Holes for Dementia Uk
News
72 holes. 11 hours. Every kind of weather. £1,738 raised for Dementia UK Chris Goss, Director of Friendly Care and Navigation Care, and Mike Wardle, Accounts Manager at Navigation Group, have completed a gruelling 72-hole golf challenge at South Staffordshire Golf Club, playing four full rounds each in a single day! Starting at 7am and finishing at 6pm, Chris and Mike battled rain, wind and sunshine along the way. With 31.62 kilometres and 41,462 steps recorded on the day, it was a real test of stamina, determination and increasingly tired legs! They were joined for the final round by Chris’s son, Ashton Goss. There’s a suspicion Ashton had carefully timed his arrival—apparently, his best chance of beating Dad was after Dad had already played 54 holes! Thanks to the generosity of their supporters, their fundraising total stands at £1,738 including Gift Aid—£1,516 in donations plus £222 in Gift Aid, comfortably exceeding the original £1,000 target. A special thank you goes to Gareth, the club manager, for being so accommodating and helping make the challenge possible, and to South Staffordshire Golf Club for welcoming Chris and Mike and allowing them to take on the challenge on their course. The pair are also hugely grateful to every golfer who kindly let them play through. That patience, encouragement and goodwill helped them keep moving and complete all four rounds before the day was out. Through their work in care, Chris and Mike see first-hand the impact dementia has on individuals and their families. Supporting Dementia UK made this a cause close to their hearts—and made every step worthwhile. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared the fundraising page or cheered them on. Your support made those final few holes that little bit easier!
