Gorleston Juniors regain the East Suffolk Super Six Trophy 2026
On Sunday 27 September the five clubs participating in the East Suffolk Super Six final met at Gorleston Golf Club to play the last match. It was close at the top and with the first two teams eligible to go further, all were keen to play their best scrambles of the season. All the teams from Bungay, Dunston, Gorleston, Halesworth and Rookery played well, each club showing how much they had improved over the season. Our team, representing the Super Six squad, were Oakley Page with Frankie Waller, Harry Gilbert-Barnham with Evan Gallie, and William Lowe with Robin Greaney, our Captain for this event. At the end of the 6 hole match all assembled in the clubhouse to hear the results given out by Duncan, assisted by Cliffy the Club Captain, who had supported all the young golfers as they played their matches. Gorleston won the match with a superb 125 points, followed by Rookery, only 2 points behind, with 123 points. In third place was Bungay with 120 points, then Halesworth with 118 points, and Dunston with 113 points. Those totals were included in the series calculations to reveal Gorleston as the winners with a brilliant 2 point lead, ahead of Halesworth, thus enabling both teams to go on to the next stage of the Super Six Series 2026. Rookery, in third place, missed out by half a point, followed by Bungay and Dunston. A huge thanks to our junior members Harry Page, Max Leuty and Oscar Weale who were present on the course to ensure that our guests were looked after during the matches. Congratulations to our Super Six Squad which, in addition to the above named, includes Dotty Amos, Red Pinder, Loki Pinder, Callum Barnard, Tommy Mills, Harley Currell and reserve, Oscar Weale. As Junior Organiser I had the unenviable and impossible task of awarding the Life Skills Medal so, after a couple of moments hesitation, the medal was awarded to each and every member of our amazing Super Six Squad! Thanks to the wonderful families of our team for attending these matches, whatever the weather or distance to travel. Thanks to the Club Captain and Gorleston Golf Club for your support. Well done to Duncan for putting together another superb squad. Maggie Hart Junior Organiser
