Captain’s Charity Texas Scramble A huge thank you to everyone who took part in the Captain’s Charity Texas Scramble on Sunday 4th October, raising funds for Parkinson’s UK. An amazing £670 was raised on the day, taking the total raised for the Captain’s Charity so far to over £9,000. A fantastic achievement, and many thanks to everyone who played and supported the event. The original prize allocation was for 1st to 4th place, but with such a great turnout, Captain Kevin Holton has kindly added another fourball voucher to the prize pot. Kevin Holton Club Captain Late Summer Quiz Night It was lovely to see 19 teams entering the Late Autumn Quiz. Everyone arrived full of excitement, with brains at the ready and all hoping to get their hands on one of the prizes on offer. None of the rounds were particularly straightforward, although some teams scored very highly on the table sheets, which was great to see. Third place went to “Two Left Feet” with a score of 102 from a possible maximum of 144. In second place came “King’s College Elmer” with 104 points, but the winners, with an excellent 118 points, were “Universally Challenged”. Mr and Mrs Eddie and Mr and Mrs Jules were truly on the boil and thoroughly deserved their jolly bottle of Vodka! Every team went away with a prize, helped heavily by plenty of Hickle’s Pickles, with plants and cake stands also thrown into the mix, so everyone had a little memory of another super-dooper event. It was lovely to see so many regular teams taking part, along with some new faces ready to learn the ropes. The Christmas Quiz will take place on Friday 4th December, when the odd mince pie may well be thrown into the mix! I’ll be on the lookout for Christmas-themed prizes over the next couple of months, along with plenty of festive questions. Look out for the poster in a few weeks’ time, plus a reminder on Latest News from Steen. Many thanks for all your support, as always.
