This weekend is a busy one. We have Captains prize on Saturday which is a gents strokeplay event across three divisions.
On Sunday we hold the prestigious Withers trophy for over 50's gents. Within this we also have the top 8 scratch qualifiers over the age of 55 progressing to matchplay to contest our inaugural Seniors Club Championship to get hold of the Michael Niven Trophy. It is so pleasing to see that Michael has entered the event as well. He is a stalwart of the club, and as well as being a great golfer has commanded many roles as a volunteer over the years. Our records suggest he is approaching his 70th year of membership.
There is also a junior medal Sunday afternoon from 2pm. The juniors are hugely important to the future of our club and we ask that as many as possible enter through howdidido. It's a zoned draw which will be drawn late tomorrow evening, so please get your entries in. Golf is a great game for our young members to build confidence and etiquette for the future.
As a final note, i want to thank everyone who volunteers to help the club in any capacity, but from the perspective of match and handicap team , I want to convey thanks to those who go above and beyond in getting results and prizes sorted so efficiently.
As a team ,we are fairly stretched at times and looking for anyone with spare time who would be willing to join the M and H team to be trained up to help with admin. Any interest can be conveyed to matchsec@alloagolfclub.co.uk or via WhatsApp to match sec on 07443597568.
Most of all, enjoy your weekend of golf
