Gary Player Trophy 2026
Senior Cliff Pegg sees off stiff competition to secure maiden 2026 victory
The Gary Player Trophy, one of the year’s prestigious competitions, was played on 2 August in reasonably fine conditions. However, it was interrupted by the first significant rainfall for several weeks with a sustained 15 minutes of rain. Fortunately, this cleared and allowed Senior Cliff Pegg to secure his first major win of the year with a creditable 64. Keith Phillips followed with a 65 after an out-of-bounds on the 18th and in a 3rd placing, Dave Bayle with a 66. Cliff Pegg’s score included two birdies on the 3rd and 10th and an additional 3 pars to contribute to his winning score. The trophy was presented to Cliff by Mark Nelson-Griffiths (Club committee chairman on the 18th Green). Congratulations Cliff may you good run of form continue.
